This is a unique opportunity for filmmakers, videographers,
environmentalists and activists to explore local sustainability
issues and solutions under the mentorship of filmmakers
such as Richard Boyce, director of "The Art of Rainforests"
and Rick Searle, founder of Ekos Communications and
the Ekos TV website. Participants will have the opportunity to view and discuss a variety of documentary styles and genres.
Participants will be individually assisted while exploring
the technical, practical and artistic challenges involved
in creating an environmental video in a supportive
and collaborative community. Participants will have
access to MediaNet's production and post production
facilities during the program
Several MediaNet filmmakers will be giving practical
workshops to help participants develop their projects.
Local environmentalists will offer feedback and suggestions
for contacting resources and exploring issues.
This is a hands on program and filmmakers and editors
will be on hand to assist participants in the use of
cameras, lights and editing. MediaNet technicians will
be availble for support.
Filmmakers may work in teams or as individuals. Each
filmmaker will be eligible for support for one film.
(or, a team of 3 could make up to 3 films in the program).
